Join us in person in Berlin on 12 October, 09:00–10:30 CET for a World Health Summit 2026 side meeting, hosted by OHE, where we will bring experts together to discuss how changes in US pricing policy could affect global access and equity.
The economics of global pharmaceutical innovation are being rewritten. US pricing reform, trade measures and a landmark UK–US agreement have begun redistributing the costs of innovation across borders and no health system is insulated. When the world’s largest market changes what it pays, the effects ripple outward: reshaping prices globally, and shifting where and when new medicines launch, with lower- and middle-income countries exposed to potential spillover risks.
OHE will open the session by mapping this new landscape, then guide a cross-sector panel through the questions that matter for health globally:
- If innovation costs must be shared, what does a fair distribution look like, and who carries the risk of getting it wrong
- How do we prevent a world in which access to medicines follows national bargaining power rather than health need?
- And what practical mechanisms in pricing, procurement and regulation could keep the innovation ecosystem both sustainable and equitable?
In the spirit of the World Health Summit’s ‘From Crisis to Resilience’ theme, the session is designed to surface practical pathways toward future-ready, equitable value models rather than to restate the problem.
