Imagine being able to find, in ONE minute or less, which NICE Technology Assessments (TAs) make specific reference to QALY thresholds of £20,000 or £30,000, for example, or to risk sharing, or patient access schemes. This is possible using HTAinSite — a unique resource of information on NICE Technology Appraisal decisions and the evidence used to support them.

Since our initial report about HTAinSite, in May 2010, the service has evolved in important ways. Added, for example, is the option of including the decisions of the Scottish Medicines Consortium (SMC) in the searches.

HTAinSite is based on some 63,000 pages of documentation and thousands of hours of work checking and validating each item of data. All NICE TAs and SMC decisions are included. Examples of the types of information HTAinSite can provide are:

  1. Filtering previous guidance — by disease category, manufacturer and product name, for example
  2. Statistical summaries of approval rates and the factors that influence approval
  3. Reports that contain primary headline guidance for each technology appraisal and product
  4. An overview of clinical evidence and NICE comments about the strength of the clinical evidence that supported TA decisions
  5. Reviews of the cost effectiveness and budget impact data evaluated in the submission
  6. Original NICE documentation

Coming very soon are two additional enhancements to HTAinSite: the inclusion of NICE’s clinical guidelines and the ability to filter TAs using specific dates.

The value of having all this information so easily at hand is evident in the growth of registered users. Since our earlier report, subscribers have grown by half, to about 600. Subscriptions come from all sectors, including many of the top 20 global pharmaceutical companies.

HTAinSite is a collaboration of the OHE, City University London and Abacus International. Visit http://www.HTAinSite.com to view sample reports and subscribe.
