Claud Theakston

Economist

A recipient of the OHE-City Fellowship, Claud studied for an MSc in Health Economics at City, University of London. He has previous experience in market research and a background in Medical and Biological Anthropology.

His current research interests include the use of qualitative and quantitative methods to measure and value health. In particular, exploring and eliciting the experiences and preferences of patients, carers and healthcare practitioners, and how to include these in decision-making. His dissertation focused on the effects of providing informal care to a family member or close friend on carers’ health-related quality of life. Claud is also interested in the evolution and comparison of HTA agencies, methods and processes across countries, as well as the broader value of medicines to society and how health economics can help us respond to and prepare for challenges and demographic changes.
