Paula Lorgelly, OHE’s Deputy Director, was recently elected as joint National Organiser of HESG with Bruce Hollingsworth from the University of Lancaster. The pair were elected by members in the organisation’s first competitive election. At the group’s 93rd meeting in Bristol, the role was formally handed over from previous National Organisers Steve Morris (UCL) and Matt Sutton (University of Manchester).
HESG is the UK health economics association. Founded in 1972, it exists to support and promote the work of health economists in the UK and worldwide. It is best known for its biannual meetings with a distinctive style and format, where the paper is presented by a discussant rather than the author.
About the appointment, Paula said:
I’m very pleased to have been elected and excited by the prospect of taking HESG to the next level. Bruce and I have a number of ideas and proposals we’d like to explore but ultimately it will remain as a group for the members, led by the members.
The next HESG meeting will be held at the University of York in January 2019. To find out more about HESG, or to register for the York meeting, visit hesg.org.uk.
