A Productivity Crisis in Pharmaceutical R&D? (Lunchtime Seminar)
08 December 2011
Lunchtime Seminar
Falling productivity in pharmaceutical R&D has given rise to concern that the "business model" of the pharmaceutical industry is broken. In this seminar, Professor Massimo Riccaboni will discuss this in the context of the results of the ground-breaking research he recently published in Nature Reviews Drug Discovery, with Fabio Pammolli and Laura Magazzini. Their evidence suggests that a decline in productivity is linked primarily to shift in investment into more difficult areas of science, where breakthrough therapies are most needed.
